Later that same day, Garcia provided her followers with a weekly update, emphasizing her dedication to protecting community interests and senior benefits. Her post reads, "Happy Friday—it’s time for my weekly update! This week, I’ve been hard at work in the district fighting to protect our community, and defend the benefits our seniors have worked their whole lives to earn.".

Garcia has represented Texas's 29th District in Congress since 2019, succeeding former U.S. Congress member Gene Green. Prior to her current role, she served in the Texas Senate from 2013 to 2018. Born in San Diego, Texas in 1950, Garcia resides in Houston.
