Rep. Sylvia Garcia, a Democratic member of the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 29th district, recently communicated a series of concerns via Twitter. Her tweets were mainly focused on legal issues surrounding the Trump administration's deportation policies and her involvement in advocating for Kilmar, a person affected by these policies.

On April 17, 2025, Rep. Garcia tweeted about a judicial stance against a Trump-era deportation policy. She stated, "A conservative Reagan-appointed federal judge called out the Trump administration's lawless deportation scheme. The courts are clear. Due process is not optional. Trump must follow the law and bring Kilmar home now." This tweet reflects her ongoing critique of the former administration's policies and her advocacy for due process.

In another post on the same date, Garcia expressed her satisfaction with Sen. Chris Van Hollen's involvement in the situation regarding Kilmar. She wrote, "I’m glad @ChrisVanHollen was able to see Kilmar. We must keep up the pressure until he is back in the United States with his wife and kids." This highlights her collaborative efforts with her congressional colleagues to ensure the return of Kilmar to his family.

Sylvia Garcia has been serving in the U.S. Congress since 2019, after succeeding Gene Green. Prior to this, she was a member of the Texas Senate from 2013 to 2018. Born in San Diego, Texas, in 1950, Garcia holds a BA from Texas Woman's University and a JD from Texas Southern University. She currently resides in Houston.
