Lizzie Pannill Fletcher, serving as the U.S. Congresswoman for Texas’s 7th District since 2019, has recently shared her thoughts on Twitter concerning various national and local issues. Fletcher, born in Houston in 1975, continues to live there, representing her constituents' interests in Congress.
On April 15, 2025, Fletcher expressed concern regarding plans by the Trump Administration to alter the VA abortion access rule. She asserted that such changes put veterans' health at risk and highlighted her collaboration with fellow representatives, stating, "The Trump Administration is planning to gut the VA abortion access rule, putting the health of our veterans and their families at risk."
The next day, April 16, Fletcher addressed the precarious situation of maternal health in Texas, known as #BlackMaternalHealthWeek. Reflecting on a tragic incident, Fletcher noted, "This #BlackMaternalHealthWeek, I'm thinking of Porsha, whose miscarriage led to her death in a state where cruel abortion laws interfere with health care." Her tweet emphasized the need for improved healthcare policies.
In addition, Fletcher took the opportunity to acknowledge National Librarian Day on April 16, recognizing the contributions of librarians in her local community. She stated, "Happy National Librarian Day to the librarians across our community at @HoustonLibrary, @HarrisCountyPL, and Fort Bend County Libraries!" demonstrating her support for public service and the dissemination of knowledge.
Fletcher, who graduated from Kenyon College and earned a JD from the College of William and Mary, continues to champion diverse issues in her role representing Texas's 7th District.
