Rep. Wesley Hunt, who has served in the U.S. Congress representing Texas's 38th District since 2023, shared a series of statements on social media addressing immigration issues and policies. Hunt, a prominent political figure from Houston, utilized his platform to comment on the reported changes and challenges in border control and the effects of immigration policies.
On April 1, 2025, Hunt pointed out a marked decrease in border crossings, comparing current statistics to those from the past three years. He attributed this change to the policies of former President Donald Trump, asserting that his administration fulfilled its commitments. Hunt stated, "ALERT: Border crossings are down 95% from March 2024, 96% from March 2023, and 97% from March 2022. What is the difference? President Donald Trump! Promises Made, Promises Kept!"
Addressing another immigration issue, Hunt shared information on April 2, 2025, about a concerning report from the Department of Justice (DOGE). According to Hunt, the department discovered that 2.1 million illegal immigrants acquired social security numbers, enabling millions to access benefits and voter registration. He shared, "DOGE uncovers 2.1 million illegal immigrants who obtained social security numbers. 5 + million illegals that were here on parole were able to access benefit programs and get on the VOTER rolls."
