Gays Against Groomers Texas leader Brad Johnson decried the National Education Association (NEA) for their recent list of student reading recommendations in a tweet published on Wednesday.

"Absolutely disgusting and typical behavior from the National Grooming Education Association," Johnson wrote.

According to FOX News, the NEA released a list of recommended books on July 3, which included controversial material such as "White Fragility" and "Gender Queer". The latter book has attracted significant backlash from many American parents due to it being in various public school libraries while depicting graphic images such as oral sex and discussing sexual topics such as masturbation.

"This isn't a joke!" Gays Against Groomers Wisconsin tweeted on Wednesday. "This isn't what the LGBT fight was for! We never asked for this. The entire community has been hijacked by pedophile groomers using the LGBT as shield. Grooming your children in the name of acceptance! Disgusting!!!"

"America's largest teachers union, the National Education Association, just published a list of 11 books as 'great summer reads'," Turning Point USA founder and CEO Charlie Kirk tweeted on Wednesday. "Among those are 'White Fragility' and 'Gender Queer'. That's right, the NEA endorses racist anti-white screeds and a book with graphic oral sex images as great summer reading. Dissolve the teacher unions."

"Gender Queer" author Maia Kobabe had previously defended the graphic images in the book during an interview with NPR in January.

"I honestly think the book is a lot less explicit than it could be," Kobabe said. "The topic of gender touches on identity… and it touches on sexuality. And it’s hard to fully explain I think, like how a gender identity can impact every facet of life as an adult without touching at least a little bit on sexuality. And I wanted to at least not to like, shy away from that."
