On June 30, Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07) published her 2023 Mid-Year Report, detailing her work on behalf of Texas’ Seventh Congressional District from January through June this year. The report highlights Congresswoman Fletcher’s work on legislative and constituent matters.

“From introducing legislation important to our community, to ensuring implementation of major pieces of legislation signed into law in the last Congress, to welcoming national leaders to Houston and showing them what our community is all about—2023 has already proven to be a busy and productive year,” said Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher. “I am delighted to share some of the highlights of the work that our team and I have done on behalf of Texas’ Seventh Congressional District so far this year.”

Highlights of the 2023 Mid-Year Report include:

  • Legislation: Congresswoman Fletcher has introduced several bills in the House of Representatives this year, including:
    • Ensuring Women’s Right to Reproductive Freedom Act, H.R. 782, to protect the right to travel to other states for reproductive health care; and
    • Reinvesting in Shoreline Economies and Ecosystems (RISEE) Act, H.R. 913, to help protect coastal communities by creating a new stream of funding for coastal infrastructure and resiliency projects, and to incentivize new clean energy projects;
  • Constituent Advocacy: In the first half of this year, TX-07 constituent advocates reached the milestone of closing 11,000 constituent cases since Congresswoman Fletcher took her oath of office. Since January of this year, Congresswoman Fletcher and her team have had more than 1,100 meetings with constituents and advocates;
  • Community Funded Projects: Congresswoman Fletcher secured $31 million in federal funding through the Congressional appropriations process, and has been working to bring those funds to TX-07 for projects this spring including projects to reconstruct Poor Farm Ditch in West University Place and Southside Place, improve Houston METRO’s 82 Westheimer bus route, improve health outcomes for Black mothers and children through Harris County Public Health’s new program, and more;
  • Congressional Leadership: Congresswoman Fletcher serves as one of 12 members of the Regional Leadership Council, where she works with the Biden-Harris administration to implement historic laws passed in the 117th Congress and has also taken on new leadership roles in Congressional Caucuses, including as Whip of the Pro-Choice Caucus and Vice Chair of the Equality Caucus.
