WASHINGTON, DC – On May 11, Congressman Wesley Hunt voted in favor of H.R.2 – The Secure the Border Act of 2023.  The Secure the Border Act requires 900 miles of President Trump’s border wall to be built, requires a 5-year technology investment plan for security at all U.S. Ports of Entry, requires 22,000 Custom and Border Patrol Agents to be employed at all times, authorizes a record amount of funding for Operation Stonegarden, ends catch-and-release, and allows asylum seekers to be deported until their case is decided by federal courts.

“Nearly two hundred people on the terror watchlist have attempted to cross the southern border.   We’ve seen over six million people illegally cross the southern border under Joe Biden, and enough fentanyl seized in March that is the equivalent of more than 645 million lethal doses.  All this will get terribly worse once Title 42 expires.  The Biden Administration created this crisis, and we are going to fix it.  H.R. 2. is the strongest border security package ever passed by the House of Representatives, and I’m proud to have voted in favor of it,” said Hunt.
