Rep. Lizzie Fletcher, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 7th district, recently shared a series of tweets highlighting significant issues. Fletcher has been in office since 2019 after replacing John Culberson. She holds a BA from Kenyon College and a JD from the College of William and Mary.
On March 25, 2025, Rep. Fletcher emphasized the importance of supporting scientists and the scientific community, stating "An important read. It is critical that we support our scientists and scientific community."
Later that day, she addressed gender pay disparity by noting "84 days. That's how many days more, on average, women have had to work to make what their white male counterparts made in 2024." She expressed her support for the #PaycheckFairnessAct and her hope that one day #EqualPayDay would not be marked three months into the next year.
In another tweet on March 25, 2025, Rep. Fletcher highlighted progress in HIV prevention while urging President Trump to reconsider certain policy changes: "HIV infections have dropped by more than 76% since the beginning of the HIV epidemic." She joined colleagues in urging against eliminating CDC’s Division of HIV Prevention.
