Rep. Sylvia Garcia, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Texas' 29th district, has expressed her views on recent actions by the Trump administration through a series of tweets. Garcia, who succeeded Gene Green in 2019 and previously served in the Texas Senate from 2013 to 2018, voiced concerns over policies affecting Venezuelan immigrants and other matters of national security.

On March 24, 2025, Rep. Garcia criticized the Trump administration's decision to remove legal protections from Venezuelans residing in the United States. She stated that "The Trump administration should not be cruelly ripping away legal protections, including TPS, from Venezuelans who came to the U.S. fleeing violence and repression under the brutal Maduro regime." She affirmed her solidarity with her Democratic colleagues and Venezuelan nationals.

Later that day, Garcia addressed President Trump's use of an antiquated law for deporting immigrants without due process. In her tweet at 21:37 UTC, she remarked that "President Trump is using a 200-year-old war time law to deport immigrants without due process." She emphasized a federal judge's comparison to Nazi rights during trials and called for public opposition against what she described as unconstitutional measures.

In another tweet posted at 21:52 UTC on March 24, Rep. Garcia criticized Pete Hegseth's appointment as Defense Secretary under President Trump. She claimed that "Trump is treating the Pentagon like a Fox News casting call," expressing concern over what she perceives as incompetence impacting national security.
