Rep. Sylvia Garcia, who represents Texas' 29th district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared her views on various political issues through a series of tweets. Garcia, who has been serving since 2019 after replacing Gene Green, addressed topics ranging from immigration policies to national security.
On March 5, 2025, Rep. Garcia criticized former President Donald Trump's immigration policy proposals. She expressed her opposition by stating that "Trump wants Congress to write a blank check for mass deportations—tearing parents from their kids and gutting our workforce." Instead of endorsing such measures, she advocated for passing real solutions to improve the immigration system.
In another tweet on the same day, Rep. Garcia commented on Trump's stance regarding law enforcement and past actions related to the January 6 Capitol riots. She labeled his actions as "the height of hypocrisy," pointing out that he pardoned individuals involved in the incident despite claiming to support law enforcement.
Later that day, Rep. Garcia expressed relief over developments concerning an alleged terrorist attack planner in Afghanistan. She stated her satisfaction with holding accountable those responsible for the Abbey Gate attack that resulted in American casualties: "I’m glad the alleged mastermind of the Abbey Gate terrorist attack...will be held to account for the atrocities he committed."
