A Houston resident has been sentenced to federal prison for narcotics trafficking, according to an announcement by U.S. Attorney Alamdar S. Hamdani. Demitrios Ramon Jerry, aged 46, had previously pleaded guilty on June 20.
U.S. District Judge Lee H. Rosenthal sentenced Jerry to 108 months in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release. The court considered Jerry's admission of dealing fentanyl and methamphetamine from a drug house located in Houston’s Third Ward neighborhood when determining the sentence. The court emphasized the seriousness of the quantity of fentanyl involved.
The sentencing follows a joint law enforcement operation that uncovered Jerry's activities at the drug house in Third Ward. He was found selling counterfeit Percocet pills containing fentanyl and ecstasy pills containing methamphetamine.
During the operation, authorities searched the premises and discovered crack cocaine, powder cocaine, promethazine syrup, and scales within the house.
Jerry has been allowed to remain on bond and will voluntarily surrender to a U.S. Bureau of Prisons facility, which will be determined soon.
The investigation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration with support from the Houston Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Stuart Tallichet handled the prosecution of this case.
