There were 152 American Indian students enrolled in Spring Branch ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 31% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Spring Branch ISD schools welcomed 33,649 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, American Indian students comprised 0.5% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

Spring Branch ISD roughly covers schools within Harris County and has a main office in Houston.

Among the 46 schools in Spring Branch ISD schools, Northbrook High School recorded the highest enrollment of American Indian students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of 13 students.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
