There were 569 students enrolled in Step Charter School in the 2022-23 school year, 2% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 50.6% of them were girls, and 49.4% were boys.

Data also shows that the majority of students were Hispanic, representing 70.1% of the Step Charter School total enrollment.

Step Charter School roughly covers schools within Harris County with its main office in Houston.

Among the two schools in Step Charter School, Step Charter II recorded the highest enrollment of 298 students in the 2022-23 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
