U.S. Representative Wesley Hunt and Senator Lindsey Graham have spoken out against the Democrats' plan for a federal election takeover. During a testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee, Representative Hunt emphasized the importance of preserving voter identification and maintaining secure, state-run elections. He stated, “Having a government-issued I.D. isn’t racist, it’s American.”

Senator Graham also criticized the John R. Lewis Voting Advancement Act, a piece of legislation that aims to remove voter identification and citizenship verification requirements, federalize the state-run election system, and infringe upon states' authority to supervise their elections. He expressed his disapproval by saying, “The John R. Lewis Voting Advancement Act is not about protecting voting rights. It’s about solidifying Democrat power nationally. It’s about federal control over state and local elections, which by the way is unconstitutional. It’s about diminishing the security of our elections.”

Furthermore, Representative Hunt challenged the characterization of the Georgia voting law as "Jim Crow 2.0" by President Biden. He argued that such a comparison is offensive to those who have actually experienced Jim Crow, like his own family. Hunt pointed out the record-breaking voter turnout in Georgia during the 2022 midterms as evidence that the law was not discriminatory.

In conclusion, both Hunt and Graham urged the rejection of the Democratic Party's efforts to centralize power and control over elections. Hunt emphasized the progress made in ensuring fair elections and urged the committee to continue moving forward. Senator Graham highlighted the importance of upholding the constitution and safeguarding the security of elections from federal overreach.
