62 percent of applicants to the University of Houston were admitted for fall 2018

At the University of Houston, 84 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 50 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Houston enrolled 46,324 students in fall 2018, including 38,348 in undergraduate and 7,976 in graduate programs, data shows. 13.8 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

94 percent of undergraduates are residents of Texas, and 2 percent are residents of other states. 3 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as Hispanic or Latino (35 percent) and white (23 percent).

The school admitted 62 percent of the 22,461 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 37 percent enrolled.
