Senior Chems Doha Zeghouli has been named Big 12 Tennis Player of the Week after leading the Houston Cougars women’s tennis team to victories over #35 BYU and #29 Utah. The team’s unbeaten streak now stands at 11 wins, marking their second-best start in program history.
Zeghlouli, who is from Paris, France, achieved a perfect 4-0 record during the weekend. She won both her singles matches, securing match-clinching points against Utah and BYU. In doubles play with partner Sophie Schouten, she posted two set wins with scores of 6-2 and 6-1.
She is the second Cougar to receive this recognition from the Big 12 this season. Junior Valeriia Krokhotina previously earned the award in week two.
According to the university, Zeghlouli has accumulated eight wins each in singles and doubles so far this season.
“Fans can make a direct impact on the success of Houston Tennis by providing NIL opportunities and by joining the Center Court Club, which provides financial support directly to Houston Tennis for needs beyond its operating budget,” said UHCougars.com.
