The University of Houston Track and Field team announced on Apr. 24 that it secured a victory at the Michael Johnson Invitational and qualified for five finals at the Penn Relays.
The news is significant as it highlights both individual achievements and team progress during a busy weekend of collegiate track and field competitions.
At the Michael Johnson Invitational in Waco, graduate student Canaan Wharry won the men’s discus event with a mark of 52.08 meters on his first attempt. Senior Zaeda Houff finished second in the women’s hammer throw with a distance of 54.16 meters, while redshirt sophomore Ty Lott placed third in the men’s hammer throw after recording a throw of 63.56 meters.
