U.S. Senator John Cornyn expressed approval of President Trump’s decision to authorize the City of Eagle Pass’s permit application for the expansion of the Camino Real International Bridge Land Port of Entry. The expansion will add a six-lane bridge span next to the existing structure, increasing its capacity for vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
Senator Cornyn stated, “I am pleased President Trump has authorized the expansion of the Camino Real International Bridge in Eagle Pass, which will help modernize the bridge’s infrastructure and ultimately increase the port’s capacity.” He added that this development is beneficial for South Texas and acknowledged his support for the initiative while appreciating the Trump administration’s focus on improving national ports of entry.
The project has had Senator Cornyn’s backing through two different administrations. Previously, he sent a letter to President Biden advocating for the City of Eagle Pass’s application to expand and maintain operations at this key crossing point. His efforts have continued under President Trump’s administration, leading to this recent approval.
