U.S. Senators John Cornyn and Ted Cruz have expressed their gratitude to President Donald Trump for his quick approval of a federal emergency disaster declaration in response to severe flooding in Kerrville, Texas, and the surrounding areas. The approval follows a request from Texas Governor Greg Abbott.
Senator Cornyn commented on the situation, stating, “The Kerrville community has endured unimaginable devastation, and I thank President Trump for swiftly approving this disaster declaration to ensure every available resource is being utilized in rescue and recovery efforts.” He emphasized the resilience of Texans, adding that “being a Texan doesn’t just describe where you’re from, it describes who your family is.”
Senator Cruz also acknowledged the impact of the flooding, saying, “The flooding we are seeing in Central Texas is absolutely devastating.” He extended condolences alongside his wife Heidi to those affected by the disaster. Cruz also thanked President Trump for the swift approval of Governor Abbott’s request and praised Secretary Noem for sending additional personnel to support local efforts.
Both senators had earlier sent a letter to President Trump urging continued federal assistance for Kerr County’s rescue and recovery operations.
