Tom Oliverson, M.D., a Republican who has represented Texas’s 130th House district since 2017, posted several opinions on his Twitter account in mid-April 2026.

On April 13, Oliverson commented on the nutritional value of foods eligible for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), stating: “This is a dumb argument. There are literally dozens of foods with a higher glycemic index than soda or candy that are very SNAP-eligible. Next time you want to resolve hypoglycemia quickly try Corn Flakes. “

The following day, April 14, he addressed perceptions about plant-based substances by posting: “It’s a plant though so it must be safe.” Later that same morning, Oliverson critiqued airline customer service standards, specifically referencing United Airlines: “Just no. The last thing anyone needs is for United’s customer service attitudes to spread.”

Oliverson was elected to the Texas State House in 2017 and succeeded Allen Fletcher as representative of District 130.
