Tom Oliverson, M.D., a Republican elected to the Texas State House in 2017 representing the state’s 130th House district, posted a series of comments on social media addressing issues ranging from healthcare spending behaviors to federal regulatory barriers and Memorial Day observances.
On May 24, 2026, Oliverson questioned the financial practices of certain organizations compared to others. He wrote, “Very peculiar indeed. Also strange is how their spending behavior resembles drunk sailors while the for-profits tend to be more Dave Ramsey method.”
Later that day, Oliverson addressed challenges related to ERISA (Employee Retirement Income Security Act) and its role in healthcare reform. He stated on May 24, 2026, “Respectfully, I would argue it is exactly the opposite. ERISA is the impenetrable shield when it comes to reform, and the plans/PBM’s jealously guard it. Have you ever been able to meet with DOL on issues like network adequacy, prior auth, step therapy, et al? I have not.”
On May 25, 2026, Oliverson marked Memorial Day by honoring fallen service members. He posted, “Memorial Day is a time to remember the brave Americans who gave their lives in service to our nation. Their courage and sacrifice secured the freedoms we enjoy today, and we owe them a debt that can never truly be repaid. May we never forget the cost of freedom.”
Oliverson succeeded Allen Fletcher as representative for Texas’s 130th House district after his election in 2017.
