Tom Oliverson, M.D., a Republican member of the Texas State House representing the 130th district since 2017, addressed issues related to pharmaceutical pricing, medical fraud, and healthcare regulation in a series of tweets posted on May 12 and 13, 2026.
On May 12, Oliverson commented on the impact of FDA regulations on drug prices. He stated, “I believe the FDA shortage list and Section 503A rules allowing compounding pharmacies to copy the brand during a shortage had a lot to do with the rapid price drop on GLP1’s. Otherwise the drugs are only available from the manufacturer during the exclusivity period and they”.
The following day, Oliverson addressed concerns about medical fraud in organ transplantation. On May 13 he wrote, “Altering a patient’s record is fraud, and this is not a victimless crime. There are not enough organ donations for everyone, which means this doctor’s fraud hurt someone who legitimately should have received a transplant.”
In another tweet posted later that morning, Oliverson pointed to systemic regulatory challenges across states. He said, “This is a problem in all 50 states. My model act will help. @NCOILorg”.
Oliverson has served in the Texas State House since his election in 2017 after replacing Allen Fletcher as representative for District 130.
