The Texas Southern University women’s track and field team posted several notable performances at the PV Relays and the Victor Lopez Classic in Houston, according to a March 31 announcement.

These competitions provided opportunities for athletes to achieve personal bests and improve their rankings within the Southwestern Athletic Conference. The events featured a range of individual and relay efforts from Texas Southern athletes.

At the Victor Lopez Classic, Cesley Williams recorded the fourth-best time in the conference for the 400 meters, finishing second with a mark of 54.21 seconds. Bayli George also competed in that event, placing seventh with a time of 57.17 seconds. In other results, Car’De Moore finished ninth in the 100 meters with a time of 12.25 seconds, while Alyvia Brown ran a time of 4:37.71 to place ninth overall and third among SWAC competitors in her event. Katherine Canchola achieved a personal best of 18:44:29 in the 5,000 meters to secure sixth place overall and fourth within SWAC rankings. The mile relay team—composed of Desirae Roberts, Kennedy Mosley, Bayli George, and Cesley Williams—finished fourth with a combined time of 3:48.60.

During competition at the PV Relays, Jordan Flowers placed fifth in pole vault with an effort of eight feet five inches (8-05). Diamond Barrett and Demaya Malone tied for fifth place in high jump after both cleared five feet one inch (5-1). Destinee Payne set her own personal record by leaping twelve feet five inches (12-5) to take fifth place in triple jump.

In throwing events at PV Relays, Bria Lawson reached another personal best by throwing thirty-nine feet seven-and-a-quarter inches (39-7.25) for sixth place in shot put; Kennedy Haynes threw one hundred thirty-five feet (135) to claim fourth place in discus while Lawson was sixth at one hundred twenty-eight feet one inch (128-1). Haynes added another top finish by taking fifth place in hammer throw with one hundred thirty-eight feet eight inches (138-8), while Flowers secured third place—and another personal best—in javelin with a mark of one hundred three feet five inches (103-5).

The Texas Southern women’s track and field team is scheduled to compete next week at both the Texas Invitational and Bobcat Invitational hosted by Texas State.
