Texas Southern Women’s Golf remains in second after day two of SWAC Championship

The Texas Southern University Women’s Golf Team held its position in second place on Apr. 14 after the second day of play at the 2026 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Golf Championship.

This standing keeps Texas Southern in contention as the championship heads into its final round, with teams competing for top honors and individual players aiming for strong finishes.

Junior Thaiz Amezcua leads the Tigers with a two-day total of 159, tying her for seventh place individually. Freshman Carmen Pate follows closely with a score of 160, placing her ninth. Junior Shawnise Gregory has posted a total score of 164 and sits in twelfth place, while senior Azul Amezcua holds a total of 167.

Prairie View A&M currently leads the tournament with a team score of 634, followed by Texas Southern at 650 and Alabama State University at 655. Other teams include Jackson State University in fourth place with a score of 664, Southern University fifth at 676, and Bethune-Cookman sixth at 688.

The championship is being played at Robert Trent Jones Trail: Oxmoor Valley, which is described as a par-72 championship course. The final round will begin Wednesday morning at 7:30 am and will be broadcast on SWAC TV.
