Texas Southern Women’s Golf finishes fourth at National Women’s Collegiate Championship

The Texas Southern Women’s Golf Team finished in fourth place with a total score of 925 at the 30th anniversary of the National Women’s Collegiate Golf Championship, according to an April 1 announcement. The event was hosted by the Women’s in Golf Foundation at The Golf Club at Cinco Ranch.

This result highlights the team’s performance during a major collegiate tournament that featured a 54-hole format over two days. Graduate student Alexa Gonzalez led the Tigers, tying for ninth place individually with rounds of 74, 74, and 79 for a total score of 227. Freshman Carmen Pate followed closely behind, finishing tied for twelfth after scoring one stroke higher on rounds of 74, 76, and 78.

Other contributors included freshman Zufan Girard who posted a total score of 236 with rounds of 76, 82, and 78. Juniors Thaiz Amezcua and Shawnise Gregory both finished with scores of 238 after completing their respective rounds.

The team will conclude its regular season at the Southwestern Athletic Conference Championship scheduled for April 13-15 in Birmingham, Alabama. That event will take place at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Oxmoor Valley.
