Texas Southern men’s track and field posts 14 top 10 marks at Tom Tellez Invitational

Texas Southern University’s men’s track and field team recorded 14 top-10 finishes at the Tom Tellez Alumni Invitational, according to an April 20 announcement.

The results highlight strong performances by several athletes across different events, underscoring the team’s competitive standing as they prepare for upcoming meets.

Isaac Henderson finished third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.69 seconds, while Chaunzavia Lewis secured eighth place in the same event. Patrick Goodman achieved a personal outdoor best of 48.66 seconds to take third in the 400 meters. Michael Strange placed seventh in the 800 meters with a time of 1:53.76. Although Brandon Adolphus did not finish among the top ten, his four-minute run in the 1,500 meters moved him to sixth place within the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC).

Donyea Jarmon took seventh place in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.68 seconds, and Adam Hines finished fifth in pole vault after clearing a height of fifteen feet seven inches. Babacar Diop achieved a personal best jump of twenty-two feet eleven and one-quarter inches for fifth place in long jump, while Xavier Bellard placed tenth with a leap of twenty-one feet six and one-quarter inches.

Jalen Walker earned fifth place in shot put with a throw of fifty feet eight and three-quarters inches, moving up to fourth within SWAC rankings for that event; he also placed fifth in hammer throw with one hundred eighty-two feet eight inches—now ranking second within SWAC—and ninth (142-7) alongside teammate Blaine Nunn’s eighth-place finish (160-7) in hammer throw. Jaden Brooks ranked second overall (157-5) and fourth within SWAC for discus.

The team is scheduled to compete next at Baylor University’s Michael Johnson Invitational this coming weekend.
