Texas Southern men’s golf finishes fourth at SWAC Championship, Shah places second individually

The Texas Southern University Men’s Golf Team finished in fourth place at the 2026 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Golf Championship on April 16. The event took place at Robert Trent Jones Trail: Oxmoor Valley.

The result marks the end of the Tigers’ regular season, with their next campaign set to begin in the fall. The team’s three-day total was 893, with daily scores of 301, 290, and 303.

Sophomore Yashal Shah led Texas Southern by finishing second individually. Shah posted a total score of one under par (215), with rounds of 70, 72, and 73. His final round included his third eagle for the tournament as well as three birdies and nine pars.

Freshman Javier Vazquez earned Freshman Low Medalist honors after tying for fourteenth place overall with a two-round score of 147. Vazquez’s second round score of three under par was tied for the lowest round in the tournament.

Other team members included junior Bradley Lavinier and senior Ravepon Kosalutta who both finished with totals of 230 over three rounds. Sophomore Ricardo Pham completed his play on a total score of 237.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff won the championship with a combined team score of 876, followed by Florida A&M (880), Prairie View A&M (889), and Texas Southern University (893). Alabama State University placed fifth with a score of 894.

The SWAC Championship concludes Texas Southern’s regular season schedule.
