Texas Southern University defeated Arkansas-Pine Bluff 11–10 on Apr. 19 after holding off a late comeback in a Southwestern Athletic Conference baseball game at Torii Hunter Baseball Complex.

The game, which was postponed from Saturday due to rain, saw Texas Southern take an early lead and maintain control for most of the contest. The Tigers scored first in the opening inning when Anthony Ruiz stole home. They extended their advantage with a six-run third inning, featuring RBI hits from Christopher Chavez, Miguel Morales, and Ruiz.

Morales contributed two runs with a single during the third-inning surge, while Chavez and Ruiz each added run-scoring hits as Texas Southern sent nine batters to the plate. Despite Arkansas-Pine Bluff responding with three runs in their half of the third inning, Texas Southern continued to build on its lead. Evan Joubert drove in a run in the sixth inning and Chavez delivered again with a two-run single in the seventh.

By the eighth inning, Texas Southern led 10–3 after capitalizing on an error for an unearned insurance run. In the ninth inning, Arkansas-Pine Bluff rallied with seven runs—including a solo home run by Zyon Hamilton and a two-run single by Konner Giddley—but ultimately fell short as Texas Southern secured the final out.

Chavez led his team offensively by going 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Ruiz went 3-for-6 with one RBI and one run scored; Morales added two RBIs; Zachari Pace and Byron Robinson each scored twice. Kevin Braziel earned the win for Texas Southern by pitching 6.1 innings of relief and striking out five batters while limiting Arkansas-Pine Bluff to five hits through eight innings.

The result keeps Texas Southern competitive within conference play as both teams look ahead to future matchups.
