Team Bettencourt, the official account for Texas State Senator Paul Bettencourt, posted a series of tweets in early April 2026 addressing education reform and recent changes to Houston police policy.
On April 7, 2026, Team Bettencourt emphasized the importance of measurable outcomes in education reforms: “What gets measured gets fixed” is a phrase I’m well known for in the Texas Senate, and it’s at the heart of education reforms passed in HB 8 that measure our future students’ success. House Pub Ed Chair @BradBuckleyDVM and I passed his HB 8 to prepare students for real-world https://t.co/4ulZA781CB”.
Three days later, on April 10, Team Bettencourt addressed a change in Houston Police Department policy regarding ICE immigration warrants. The tweet announced an upcoming radio appearance by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton: “Texas Attorney General @KenPaxtonTX will be joining the @KSEV700 Amigos today at 4:20pm to discuss a major policy change pushed thru by leftist progressive members of Houston City Council changing @houstonpolice policy on #ICE immigration warrants. @HPOUTX President Griffith has https://t.co/eZU08ooDr7”.
Later that day, Team Bettencourt shared concerns from five councilmembers who opposed the ordinance altering HPD’s approach to ICE warrants: “Here is the letter from the five councilmembers who voted no and stood with HPD to keep Houston safe, raising concerns similar to those voiced by HPOU President Griffith:
“This ordinance places onerous and arbitrary reporting requirements intended to influence HPD officers in https://t.co/GaSICwiREy“.
Paul Bettencourt has served as a Republican member of the Texas State Senate since 2015, representing District 7 after succeeding Dan Patrick.
