Lizzie Pannill Fletcher, a U.S. Congress member representing Texas’ 7th district since 2019, has shared her thoughts on various issues via Twitter. Fletcher, born in Houston in 1975 and a graduate of Kenyon College and the College of William and Mary, continues to engage with her constituents on educational appreciation, federal funding programs, and healthcare policy.
On May 6, 2025, Fletcher expressed gratitude towards educators in her district by acknowledging their efforts on Teacher Appreciation Day. She tweeted: “Happy Teacher Appreciation Day to those who educate and inspire #TX07’s students. The work you do to teach all of our kids matters!”
Later that day, she addressed the issue of FEMA Hazard Mitigation Assistance Grants received by Texas over the past six years. She emphasized the importance of this program in fostering resilient communities and cautioned against its potential reduction: “In the last 6 years alone, Texas has received nearly $4 billion in FEMA Hazard Mitigation Assistance Grants to help local governments and nonprofit organizations build more resilient communities. Cutting this program isn’t just short-sighted—it’s dangerous.”
In another tweet from May 6, Fletcher invited residents of Texas’ 7th district to share their experiences with Medicaid as Congress deliberates on its future: “As Congress prepares to debate the future of Medicaid, I want to hear from #TX07 residents about how Medicaid has impacted your life or the life of someone you know. Share your story with me:”
Lizzie Pannill Fletcher remains actively involved in legislative discussions affecting her district and encourages constituent participation.
