On May 11, 2025, Rep. Garcia expressed her appreciation for mothers across the country. The following day on May 12, 2025, Garcia shared her relief regarding the return of Edan Alexander after being held hostage by Hamas for over a year. She emphasized the need for continued efforts toward peace: “Grateful to hear that Edan Alexander is finally coming home after being held hostage by Hamas for over a year. We must demand that all the hostages be released so we can end this horrific war and work toward peace in the region.”

Garcia was born in San Diego, Texas in 1950 and currently resides in Houston at age 72. She holds a BA from Texas Woman’s University (1972) and a JD from Texas Southern University.
