Rep. Sylvia Garcia, U.S. Congresswoman representing Texas’s 29th district, posted a series of tweets on March 30, 2026, addressing topics including veterans’ recognition, rising gas prices amid conflict with Iran, and immigration protections.

In her first tweet at 16:35 UTC, Garcia wrote: “Honored to attend the City of Houston’s National Vietnam Veterans Day ceremony at Club Creek Basin Park, hosted by Edward Pollard and the @HoustonTX Office of Veterans and Military Affairs. We honor the service and sacrifice of our Vietnam veterans, today and every day.”

Later that afternoon at 17:02 UTC, she commented on economic impacts resulting from ongoing military action in Iran: “More than a month into to Trump’s Iran war, gas prices have risen more than a $1 since the war started. Remember when he called it a “small price to pay”? Tell that to working Americans who are paying the price.” She also tagged House Democratic organizations in this post.

At 18:18 UTC on the same day, Garcia highlighted recent developments regarding Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haitian nationals: ” BIG WIN FOR TPS TPS protections for Haiti are safe thanks to the work done by @RepPressley and House Democrats. Now let’s finish the job: Congress needs to pass my American Dream and Promise Act and deliver a pathway to citizenship for ALL TPS recipients.” She also referenced support from the Hispanic Caucus.

Garcia has served in Congress since 2019 after succeeding Gene Green. Before her tenure in Washington, she was a member of the Texas Senate from 2013 to 2018. In recent elections, Garcia has maintained strong support within her district; she won reelection in 2024 against Alan Garza with approximately 65% of the vote. Her previous victories include defeating Robert Schafranek in 2022 with over 71% of ballots cast and securing more than 71% against Jaimy Blanco in 2020.
