U.S. Representative Sylvia Garcia, who serves Texas’ 29th district in Congress, posted a series of messages on her social media accounts on April 1 and 2, 2026, highlighting her support for space exploration, autism awareness, and local flood mitigation projects.
On April 1, Garcia expressed support for the nation’s space program and NASA staff: “Awesome. Around the moon, to the moon, and on to Mars. I stand w @NASA and human space exploration. Thank you to all the @NASA family especially @NASA_Johnson for getting us to the point. Bravo!”
The following day, on World Autism Awareness Day, she reaffirmed her commitment to supporting individuals with autism: “Today on World #Autism Awareness Day, we’re reaffirming our commitment to expanding access to services, support, and opportunities for individuals with autism and their families. @HouseDemocrats”
Later that same day, Garcia highlighted a visit by her team to two Houston-area flood control projects: “Team Garcia visited the Hollister Flood Detention Basin and the White Oak Bayou Project, projects that will provide up to 1 billion gallons of stormwater storage and help protect our communities from flooding. @RodneyEllis”
Garcia has represented Texas’s 29th District in Congress since replacing Gene Green in 2019. She previously served in the Texas Senate from 2013 to 2018. In recent elections, she has maintained strong electoral support; in 2024 she defeated Alan Garza with over 65% of the vote.
