U.S. Representative Sylvia Garcia, who serves Texas’s 29th district in Congress, used her social media platform this week to address issues ranging from equal pay for AANHPI women to inflation and economic concerns under the previous administration.

On April 9, Garcia posted about pay equity, writing, “AANHPI women deserve equal pay, and the policies that make it possible. That means affordable childcare, stronger protections, and real action to break pay discrimination. #AANHPIEqualPay”. She tagged organizations including @DemWomenCaucus, @NAPAWF, and @CAPAC.

The following day, Garcia acknowledged labor leader Dolores Huerta’s birthday by introducing a resolution in her honor. In her April 10 post she stated: “Happy Birthday @DoloresHuerta! I’m proud to introduce a resolution to honor her legacy and celebrate Dolores Huerta Day across the country. Her fight for fair wages and dignity has transformed lives and continues to inspire communities.” The tweet included tags for @DoloresHuertaFD and @HispanicCaucus.

Later on April 10, Garcia commented on economic conditions under former President Donald Trump’s administration. She wrote: “Remember when Trump said he would lower prices on day one of his presidency? Inflation just jumped to 3.3%, and gas prices surged 21.2% in one month, the biggest spike since 1967. Trump’s war and failed Republican policies are making life more expensive for working Americans.”

Garcia has represented Texas’s 29th district in Congress since replacing Gene Green in 2019. Before joining Congress, she served in the Texas Senate from 2013 to 2018. In recent election cycles, Garcia has consistently secured victories over her opponents; she won re-election in 2024 against Alan Garza with approximately 65% of the vote.
