Rep. Sylvia Garcia, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 29th district since 2019, has recently expressed her stance on key issues through social media posts. Her comments focus on opposing policies from the Trump administration and advocating for immigrant rights.
On June 5, 2025, Rep. Garcia voiced her opposition to what she described as Trump’s “discriminatory travel ban.” She stated, “Proud to stand with my colleagues in calling out Trump’s discriminatory travel ban. It’s a sham built on fear, not facts.” She criticized the policy for targeting nations with predominantly Black and Brown populations and argued that it unjustly affects immigrants fleeing violence and persecution.
Later that day, Garcia reiterated her commitment to oversight of immigration enforcement agencies. In another post, she declared her participation in efforts by the Hispanic Caucus and House Democrats to inspect ICE facilities nationwide. She emphasized their determination by stating, “Proud to stand with my colleagues today as we send a clear message: the Trump administration can’t run from oversight.”
Additionally, Garcia acknowledged several colleagues in a brief tweet that included mentions of fellow representatives such as @RepEspaillat and @NydiaVelazquez among others. The tweet was posted at 22:35 UTC on June 5.
