Rep. Sylvia Garcia, U.S. Congresswoman representing Texas’s 29th district since 2019, used her social media account to criticize House Republicans and former President Donald Trump over recent actions related to congressional redistricting in Texas.

On July 25, Garcia posted: “House Republicans left Washington early to help the Felon in the White House bury the Epstein files. Now Trump and Abbott are using the time to redraw Texas’s congressional map—mid-decade and behind closed doors—to steal seats and cling to power. I’ll be in Houston tomorrow”.

The following day, she continued her criticism with another post: “Texans don’t take orders from a con man from New York. Trump is demanding new congressional maps to steal five seats in Congress—and Abbott’s doing his bidding. I testified in Houston today because TX-29 deserves fair representation, not another scheme to rig the rules for the”. On July 26, she also tagged fellow representatives in a brief post: @RepFletcher @RepJasmine @RepAlGreen.

Garcia has served as representative for Texas’s 29th District since replacing Gene Green in 2019 and previously held office in the Texas Senate from 2013 to 2018. She was born in San Diego, Texas, currently resides in Houston, and holds degrees from Texas Woman’s University and Texas Southern University.
