Rep. Sylvia Garcia, who represents Texas’s 29th district in the U.S. Congress, recently used her social media platform to voice concerns over ongoing redistricting efforts and the upcoming 2026 election in Texas.
On July 21, 2025, Garcia posted: “Catch me live on @MSNBC tonight at 6:45 PM CT on @weeknightmsnbc with @MichaelSteele @AliciaMenendez & @SymoneDSanders.
I’ll be talking about the dangerous redistricting efforts happening right now in Texas. They’re trying to silence our communities, but we’re fighting back.”
In a subsequent tweet on July 22, she addressed former President Donald Trump’s alleged involvement in state politics: “Trump is trying to rig the 2026 election—because he knows his ideas are losing.

This isn’t democracy. It’s a power grab by the Felon in the”
Later that same day, Garcia tagged several media personalities and Democratic groups in another post: @MSNBC @weeknightmsnbc @MichaelSteele @AliciaMenendez @SymoneDSanders @HouseDemocrats @HouseDPCC.
Garcia has served as U.S. Representative for Texas’s 29th District since replacing Gene Green in 2019. She previously represented her constituents as a member of the Texas Senate from 2013 to 2018 and was born in San Diego, Texas in 1950 before moving to Houston. Garcia holds degrees from Texas Woman’s University (BA) and Texas Southern University (JD).
