Representative Sylvia Garcia, who serves Texas’s 29th congressional district, addressed a range of topics in recent social media posts, including criticism of redistricting efforts and recognition of interns in her office.
On July 31, 2025, Garcia commented on ongoing political developments in Texas. She wrote: “The Felon in the White House and Greg Abbott are trying to dismantle TX-29 and minority districts across Texas with their sham redistricting scheme — all to cling on to power. Texans don’t need a con man from New York telling us what to do. I’m standing up for our community,”.
Later that day, on August 1, 2025, Garcia marked National Intern Day by acknowledging the contributions of young people working in her offices. She posted: “Today we celebrate #NationalInternDay! Our office is proud to host bright, dedicated interns both in Washington, D.C. and back home in the district. These future leaders gain valuable firsthand experience in public service — and we’re grateful for their contributions to our team”.
In another post made on August 1, Garcia tagged several organizations and institutions without further comment: @HouseDemocrats @HouseDPCC @hobbyschooluh @txwomans @BowdoinCollege @JohnsHopkins.
Sylvia Garcia has represented Texas’s 29th district since winning election in 2018. In each subsequent general election—2018 against Phillip Aronoff (75.1%–23.9%), 2020 against Jaimy Blanco (71.1%–27.4%), 2022 against Robert Schafranek (71.4%–28.5%), and most recently in 2024 against Alan Garza (65.3%–34.7%)—she secured decisive victories.
