Representative Sylvia Garcia, currently serving in the U.S. Congress for Texas’ 29th district, has been vocal on social media about various issues, including financial consumer protection and international relations. Below are her recent statements.

On February 18, 2025, Rep. Sylvia Garcia expressed concerns regarding Republican efforts to allow big banks to continue imposing significant overdraft fees on consumers. She stated that "Republicans are fighting tooth and nail to make sure big banks can keep slapping you with $35 overdraft fees for being a few bucks short." She emphasized the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's (CFPB) role in mitigating these fees and accused the GOP of attempting to reverse this progress.

The following day, February 19, 2025, Garcia addressed the conflict involving Ukraine. In her post, she attributed the ongoing war solely to Russian President Vladimir Putin. She criticized former President Trump's administration for allegedly neglecting alliances and wrote that "Ukraine didn’t ask for this war; Putin is solely responsible for unleashing this brutality on the Ukrainian people." Her statement highlighted potential future consequences for America if it does not maintain its stance against Putin.

Later on February 19, Garcia invited stories from individuals affected by or working with the CFPB. She called attention to its impact and encouraged public support to sustain its efforts: "Has the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau helped you or a family member?" Her message was a call to action to share experiences related to consumer protection.
