Rep. Sylvia Garcia, a U.S. Congress member representing Texas' 29th district, has been vocal on issues surrounding immigration and citizenship rights through her recent tweets. Serving since 2019 after replacing Gene Green, Garcia continues to advocate for immigrant communities and constitutional rights.

On January 23, 2025, Rep. Garcia expressed her commitment to advocating for Dreamers by stating: "Dreamers deserve a pathway to citizenship—quickly, with dignity, and without question. I won’t stop fighting for them." She also addressed those opposing birthright citizenship by urging them to "sit down and read the damn Constitution," emphasizing her determination not to be deterred in this fight.

Later that day, she criticized former President Trump's efforts against birthright citizenship as an attack on the Constitution. In her tweet from January 23, 2025, she noted: "Trump’s effort to end birthright citizenship is a direct attack on our Constitution—and a Reagan-appointed judge just ruled it 'blatantly unconstitutional.'" She reaffirmed her commitment to defending this constitutional right against what she described as "unlawful, un-American attacks."

On January 24, 2025, Rep. Garcia highlighted the importance of knowing one's rights when interacting with immigration enforcement agencies like ICE. Her tweet stated: "No matter your immigration status, it’s important for you to know your rights if you ever have an encounter with an immigration enforcement agency like ICE." She urged individuals to stay informed for their protection and that of their loved ones.
