There were 69 white students enrolled in Southwest School District in the 2022-23 school year, the same number as the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Southwest School District welcomed 1,578 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, white students comprised 4.4% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

Southwest School District roughly covers schools within Harris County and has a main office in Houston.

Among the five schools in Southwest School District, Phoenix School at Southwest Schools recorded the highest enrollment of white students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of 62 students.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
