Southwest School District Education: 1,409 Hispanic students were enrolled in schools in 2022-23 school year

There were 1,409 Hispanic students enrolled in Southwest School District in the 2022-23 school year, 4.4% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Southwest School District welcomed 1,578 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, Hispanic students comprised 89.3% of the student body to be one of the most represented ethnicities in the district.

Southwest School District roughly covers schools within Harris County and has a main office in Houston.

Among the five schools in Southwest School District, Southwest Schools Bissonnet Elementary Campus recorded the highest enrollment of Hispanic students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of 417 students.

Texas is found to be one of the least-educated states in the U.S. A study from WalletHub ranked Texas 41st out of 50 states in terms of the quality of the educational system and how successful students were.

More than 5.4 million students are enrolled in public schools across Texas. Nearly one million of them live in rural areas where options for local public schools are few and far between.
