There were nine Asian students enrolled in Ser-Ninos Charter School District in the 2022-23 school year, 80% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Ser-Ninos Charter School District welcomed 1,113 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, Asian students comprised 0.8% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

Ser-Ninos Charter School District roughly covers schools within Harris County and has a main office in Houston.

Among the four schools in Ser-Ninos Charter School District, Ser-Ninos Charter Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of Asian students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of eight students.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
