There were 138 students enrolled in Accelerated Intermediate Academy in the 2022-23 school year, 35.5% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 53.6% of them were boys, and 46.4% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were Hispanic, representing 55.8% of the Accelerated Intermediate Academy total enrollment.

Accelerated Intermediate Academy roughly covers schools within Harris County with its main office in Houston.

Among the two schools in Accelerated Intermediate Academy, Accelerated Interdisciplinary Academy recorded the highest enrollment of 127 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
