Enrollment at Beatrice Mayes Institute Charter School increased by 7.6% compared to previous school year

There were 497 students enrolled in Beatrice Mayes Institute Charter School in the 2022-23 school year, 7.6% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 56.3% of them were girls, and 43.7% were boys.

Data also shows that the majority of students were African American, representing 97.2% of the Beatrice Mayes Institute Charter School total enrollment.

Beatrice Mayes Institute Charter School roughly covers schools within Harris County with its main office in Houston.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
