How many students were enrolled in Excel Academy in 2022-23 school year?

There were 255 students enrolled in Excel Academy in the 2022-23 school year, 17.5% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 87.8% of them were boys, and 12.2% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were African American, representing 57.3% of the Excel Academy total enrollment.

Excel Academy roughly covers schools within Harris County with its main office in Houston.

Among the four schools in Excel Academy, Harris County Juvenile Detention Center recorded the highest enrollment of 136 students in the 2022-23 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
