When Harris County Corporal Charles Galloway pulled a vehicle over on Jan. 23, the driver fired shots from a rifle and killed Galloway while he was still sitting in his car. Later that day, the suspect’s common-law wife and her brother were allegedly seen taking things out of the vehicle and wiping down its handles.

Both individuals were arrested by the Houston Police Department for tampering with or fabricating physical evidence with an intent to impair, Fox News reported on Jan. 27, and both were found to be noncitizens of the United States.

“No sane government would allow hostile invaders to remain in their country, but that is exactly what our failed leaders have done, and it is costing the lives of our citizens,” gubernatorial candidate Don Huffines told the Houston Republic.

According to the report, an ICE spokesperson confirmed the suspect, Jose Oscar Roasles, 60, is a citizen of El Salvador and entered the U.S. illegally. After feeling to Mexico, Rosales was apprehended and is facing charges of capital murder.

According to the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, border patrol agent encounters with illegal aliens trying to enter the U.S. between Oct. 1, 2020, and Sept. 30, 2021, rose to 1.956 million, up from 646,822 during the previous year. In 2021, more illegal migrants were apprehended at the U.S. border in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California than in any prior year.

The total apprehended was 1,658,206, eclipsing the previous record of 1,643,679 in 2000.

“Greg Abbott and Joe Biden have no interest in securing the Texas border and protecting our people," Huffines said. "When I am governor, finishing the wall and stopping this invasion will be my top priorities."

Elected in 2014, Gov. Greg Abbott is currently serving as the 48th governor of Texas. Before being elected, Abbott was the longest-serving attorney general of Texas.

Huffines, who represented Texas' 16th State Senate District from 2015 to 2019, will face Abbott in the gubernatorial primary on March 1. Huffines is the CEO of Huffines Communities, a Dallas/Fort Worth-based real estate development firm.
