Mayor Sylvester Turner has teamed with Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo and Houston Methodist Hospital CEO and President Marc Boom to acquire more information about the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.
After an extensive walk-through of the vaccination room and chatting with doctors and nurses about the method that is being used to administer the vaccine itself, the mayor praised Methodist Hospital for its operation during the COVID-19 crisis.
“Even in the midst of the storm, there is still a rainbow in the sky, and today, we saw that rainbow over the City of Houston sky,” Turner said in a press release. “People trust their health care providers and seeing them get the vaccine sends a positive message throughout the City of Houston. I encourage every single Houstonian to take the vaccine when the opportunity arrives."
The mayor said he plans to get vaccinated once he becomes eligible.
