83 percent of applicants to the University of Houston-Downtown were admitted for fall 2018

At the University of Houston-Downtown, 50 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 60 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Houston enrolled 14,265 students in fall 2018, including 12,680 in undergraduate and 1,585 in graduate programs, data shows. 17 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

99 percent of undergraduates are residents of Texas. 1 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as Hispanic or Latino (49 percent) and Black or African American (19 percent).

The school admitted 83 percent of the 4,416 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 29 percent enrolled.
