Senator John Cornyn addressed concerns about government fraud and improper payments in a series of posts on February 10, 2026. The Texas senator highlighted significant financial losses attributed to fraudulent activities and referenced recent cases involving childcare service fraud.

In one post, Cornyn drew attention to the scale of government losses, stating: ” INSANITY: The GAO estimated that the government loses between $233 billion to $521 billion annually due to fraud & improper payments. “ (February 10, 2026).

He also referenced a specific incident in Minnesota, writing: “When the news broke about the childcare service fraud committed by Somali nationals in Minnesota, the American people were rightly shocked & outraged.

But that was just the tip of the iceberg.
